Hello parents, 6th grade blue will only have practice tonight until 4 pm. For the game tomorrow for the blue team, please be in uniforms and at the athletic center by 3:30 ready to warm up. Game is at 4, you do not need to sign your child out for home games. There will be no practice on Wednesday as I have prior engagements and will not be able to be at practice. Practice will remain as normal for Friday, 3-4:30. On Thursday both Blue and Gold will be playing in Byron. Gold will be taking a warrior wagon at 2:30 from school and blue will be leaving at 3:15 from the school, please be in the athletic center lobby by 3:10 with uniform, we will be taking a yellow bus to the game.
This is Sterling Public Schools emailing to inform you that school is in session today, Monday, January 22nd, but due to icy road conditions caused by the inclement weather, we will be running our 2-hour late start schedule this morning. This means all of our schools will start two hours later than normal, and all of our bus routes will be running two hours later than normal, as well.
This decision is based on the National Weather Service’s Severe report of a wintry mix of rain, sleet, freezing rain and snow across our area. With these conditions, our country roads are extremely dangerous, making bus routes difficult to navigate.
Due to the 2-hour late start schedule, breakfast will not be served at any of the schools this morning. Additionally, there will be no AM PreK Program classes at Franklin Elem. and Jefferson Elem. this morning.

CMS: 9:50
SHS: 10:00
Bus routes will be two hours later than regular scheduled time. There is no AM preschool.
Hello parents and families,
As many to most of you hopefully were notified that due to the weather all after school activities have thus been cancelled. I wanted to still send out a reminder to let you all know that we will still have pictures tomorrow , granted we actually go back to school. I wanted to also clear up any confusion as we had a few parents in boys with questions as how the pictures are listed on the schedule on 8to18. It says there is a game but there is not a game, JUST PICTURES. Players will need their uniforms and then we will simply have practice. I previously mentioned a parent meeting to happen on Monday but clearly i was not thinking straight as we were not going to even have school that day. Coach James and I would like to move that meeting to tomorrow at 4:30. If there is a problem with short turn around for this meeting coach and I can make it another day this week.Just let one of us know. Hope everyone is staying safe and warm during these very cold days.

Sterling Public Schools has canceled for tomorrow, Tuesday January 16th.
This decision is based on the extreme cold windchill temperatures that will reach 30 to 40 below zero tomorrow morning in Sterling. In fact, the National Weather Service has issued both a Severe Wind Chill Advisory and a Hazardous Weather Advisory for Sterling.
We wanted to communicate this decision tonight so our families could make plans for child care tomorrow. Stay safe and stay warm!

Wednesday (1/10/24) is a PLC Early Dismissal. Jefferson and Franklin dismissal is 2:05 (preschool normal dismissal time 2:15). Lincoln and Washington dismissal is 1:55. CMS dismissal is 2:00. SHS dismissal is 1:55.

Our very first Future Educator Club alumni winter social was a blast! We had current SHS students, current college students, current teaching staff, AND retired educators all under one roof . There was a 55 year graduation gap between our oldest and youngest grads, and it’s so exciting to think that while teaching changes all the time, the heart of WHO teaches does not. We even hosted a contract signing for one of our graduating alumni who will be teaching for SPS next year!

I have an update for our final week of games. Tonight we play at home against east coloma. In our last game we were supposed to be playing the A game but the coach for East Coloma decided to play his B team against us which Coach James, myself , and Erin Sester thought was an unfair choice. I was told we would be playing the A team tonight, so we will wait and see what happens. We are listed as playing 2nd and we will be playing at that time, 5:00. Even though we are playing second we will still be playing the A team. Game is home. Tomorrow we are playing at Montmorency, bus will be leaving at 4:15 and we will be taking a yellow bus. Please sign your child out before leaving!!!!!!! On Thursday we will have our "last" home game. Game is at 4, players will need to be in the athletic center at 3:30. Both Wednesday and Thursday are only 1 game. On Monday we will be holding an exhibition game at 3:30 where the Blue and Gold teams will be playing each other. There will be a ref and the players will be invited to come to Coach James' room after the game for a end of the year pizza party.
Keep up the great attendance routine this year! As we approach the end of the semester, we can check to see if your child is on track to stay in the green zone for attendance. If they have missed less than five days 1st semester, they are on track to meet their attendance goal at the end of the school year! Positive attendance is the first step to academic success!
